We hope you have all had a lovely summer break and are looking forward to an exciting few months ahead at Stevenage Karate Club. This message contains important information and key dates for the next few months so please read through carefully. If you are new to the club or are uncertain about any of the information below, please do speak to a club instructor.
Training Times
Please note that all training times and venues are back to normal. As a reminder:
Mondays (The Barclay Academy)
6:00 – 6:30: Beginners
6:30 – 7:30: Main Class
Tuesdays (The Valley School)
7:00 – 8:30: Adults, teens and brown belts
Thursdays (The Valley School)
6:00 – 6:30: Beginners
6:30 – 7:30: Orange – Yellow belts
7:30 – 8:30: Green and above
Summer Competition:
Thank you to everyone who took part in our summer competition. There were lots of fantastic entries. We will be having them judged this week and will announce the results very soon!
Grading:
See details below for the date of our next club grading which we will be working hard towards over the next month or so. To give yourself / your child the best chance of being able to grade and passing, please ensure they attend training as regularly as possible. For our beginners, we will be holding monthly assessments for them to earn their tags and the dates for these are below as well.
Competition:
We have the annual JKA England open championship coming up later in the year (date below). This is an excellent opportunity for students Orange belt and above to test themselves against students from across the wider association and beyond. If you are interested in this but are unsure what it entails, please speak to a club instructor.

September:
Tuesday 1st – Training resumes for adults, teens and brown belts
Thursday 3rd – Training resumes for juniors
Monday 7th – Training resumes at Barclay Academy (see above)
WC 14th – White Belt Tag Assessment
October:
Tuesday 6th – Extra competition training begins (6-7pm)
WC 12th – White Belt Tag Assessment
Thursday 22nd – Club Grading (details to follow)
Saturday 31st – JKA Open Championship Competition (K2 Crawley)
November:
Thursday 26th – Special lesson at our club with an instructor from Japan! (details to follow)
Friday 27th – Sunday 29th – International Winter Course (K2 Crawley)
December:
Saturday 19th – Adults Christmas Party
Monday 21st – Last lesson of the year (juniors)
Tuesday 22nd – Last lesson of the year (adults, teens and brown belts)
*Club reopens Monday 4th January 2027
